What do I do if fonts are missing? [FAQ]

Follow

Christian Worship: Service Builder will sometimes display a warning notification if a font is used in a bulletin or presentation format. This can happen for two reasons:

  • The font is not installed on your computer.
  • The font is available to only certain applications.

What to do if the font is not installed on your computer

  1. Download the font you would like to install.
  2. Open the zip file and open the .ttf file.
  3. Select “Install” at the top of the new window.
  4. If the font name still does not appear in Christian Worship: Service Builder, type the exact name of the installed font in the field you want to use it in. This will try to pull the font in. However, this is restricted in certain web browsers, such as Safari.

What to do if the font is available to only certain applications

If you have Microsoft Office 16 or above on macOS, it's possible that the Office fonts were installed in a way that makes them available to Office applications only, but not to Font Book or Pages (or Christian Worship: Service Builder).

You can share the fonts with the rest of your Mac applications (and Service Builder) by copying them. Here's how:

  1. Open the program “Terminal”.
  2. Copy and paste this command to this prompt: cp -r /Applications/Microsoft\ Word.app/Contents/Resources/Fonts /Library/Fonts/Microsoft
  3. Press Enter.

Or

  1. Open the Applications folder.
  2. Right click and pick “Show Package Contents”.
  3. Select "Contents", then "Resources", and finally "Fonts".
  4. Copy the entire folder into /Library/Fonts.
  5. Rename the folder from “Fonts” to “Microsoft”. This should make all fonts be at  /Library/Fonts/Microsoft.
